Julien’s House: WindUp 2023 Winner
Share Their Name. Remember Their Life.
Last week, Julien’s House launched a special campaign that Generator Design and Media Street Productions had a helping hand in developing.
Last year, Julien’s House was awarded our grand prize for WindUp—a contest providing a local business or organization with the chance to win a brand refresh with $20,000 in creative and video services.
Julien’s House offers a welcoming place where people affected by the death of a loved one can come for compassion and support through their personal journey. Their mission is to support, educate, and offer companionship to individuals through their grief experience.
THE TASK
Julien’s House was looking for an impactful logo for their upcoming campaign that was expected to launch in spring 2024.
Loved ones pass away, but our love for them does not. “Share Their Name. Remember Their Life” encourages those who have lost a loved one to share their name, to speak their name, and—if you meet someone in their grief journey—to ask their name; say it out loud and encourage stories to be told and memories to be shared.
CREATING THE LOGO
Julien’s House were interested in creating a logo for an upcoming campaign. “Share Their Name. Remember Their Life” embodies everything that Julien’s House represents: respect, honour, compassion, and collaboration. We worked closely with the fantastic team at Julien’s House to explore and develop a logo that would embody this campaign.
The logo for Julien’s House’s “Share Their Name” campaign supports the notion that you won’t hurt your loved one by mentioning their name. You are giving them a gift by telling their story, sharing their memories, and speaking about their life. It was prominent from early on that this was an impactful message which will reach a large audience who all share this in common. It was important to not only stay true to the message, but also represent everyone’s story. This was achieved by symbolizing loved ones as a heart. The leaves represent the tree in Julien’s House’s logo which forms the bottom of the heart.
Several iterations of this logo were developed and we would eventually land on the one we felt truly embodied the journey, compassion, and personal growth that an individual goes through on their grief journey. The message is truly one to remember.
The final design is an elegant, clean, and recognizable icon accompanied by stacked type presented in a strong, refined typeface.
E-COMMERCE SHOP
Julien’s House wanted a clean, modern, and user-friendly e-commerce page integrated into their existing WordPress website on which they offer lawn signs and wristbands for sale that advertise and celebrate the Share Their Name campaign.
SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS
Three social media posts were created to promote the campaign and advertise products for sale on their website. These products are available for the month of May and can be purchased here.
“Our experience with Generator Design’s marketing team through the Generator Cares WindUp Contest was highly beneficial to our charitable cause. Their dedication to our mission helped us significantly in promoting and educating people about our cause. They assisted us in designing a logo and launching an advertising campaign called ‘Share Their Name, Remember Their Life,’ which was both creative and insightful. The Generator team not only raised awareness but also engaged our community in a meaningful way. With their expertise, our message reached far and wide, igniting a wave of support and driving impactful change. Their passion for our mission was evident in every step of the journey, and we are immensely grateful for their invaluable contribution to our cause.”

VIDEO WORK FROM MEDIA STREET PRODUCTIONS
As with this year’s WindUp contest, we collaborated with Media Street Productions in 2023. They provided Julien’s House with their video services to shoot and produce videos that tell a beautiful story of the organization and how they can help the bereaved through their grief journey.
“Partnering with Generator Design on WindUp 2023 was truly a remarkable experience. We live in such a vibrant community and the WindUp platform allows us to see Windsor-Essex businesses and organizations from a very unique vantage point. Giving back to our community is the foundation on which Media Street was built, so we were thrilled to be able to work with Generator Design in this capacity.
Working with Julien’s House to help develop a video campaign to raise awareness, educate and share the important work they do, was an incredibly meaningful experience for the entire Media Street Team.”
Kelly Blais, Media Street Productions President and CEO
Working on such a wonderful and important project with Julien’s House was a fantastic experience for both Generator Design and Media Street Productions. When we cross paths with organizations like Julien’s House, we’re reminded why we hold this contest every year; helping out our community and giving something back.
It’s the same accomplishments we hope to achieve this year as WindUp 2024 begins. We’re looking for a local business or organization that could use a creative “wind up” to their brand. Nominations are open now and close on June 7th.
Are you a Windsor-Essex business or organization looking for a creative upgrade, or do you know of one that is? Nominate them here!
