Project Description
As Windsorites, it’s a rare opportunity to be included on a project featuring artists all the way from Nunavut! Generator Design was approached by McMichael Canadian Art Collection to develop an Indigenous artwork website, Iningat Ilagiit, meaning “a place for family”.
The site showcases nearly 4,000 online artworks created by Inuit artists from Kinngait (Cape Dorset); a fraction of the approximately 100,000 artworks housed at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection for the West Baffin Eskimo Co-op. The website provides a space for Inuit and Northern communities to connect and contribute to their history and culture. Our teams worked together to produce a gallery with the option for visitors to view, build and share custom galleries online. Normal and low bandwidth options are available for visitors on limited internet connections, and the site also offers a trilingual viewing experience in Inuktitut, English, and French.
Learn more about the art of the the Inuit artists and see the finished website at www.iningatilagiit.ca.
